On various computer forums, I noticed a lot of recent posts about Computer Running Slow all of a sudden using Windows 10. Thus, I decided to create this post to help.
It is certainly quite stressful to suddenly experience your computer getting slow. And most of the time, this happens when you are trying to do an importing thing or trying to meet a deadline.
So below are some of the things you can do to fix this computer issue.
Make Sure Windows 10 is Updated
The very first thing you need to check is if your Windows 10 is updated. I had an experience before where my computer slowed down and all I did was updated the OS, then everything went back to normal.
It is also possible that you shut down your computer without knowing that your Windows is updating in the background which resulted in some issues causing it to slow down.
Remove Any Third Party Antivirus Software
Prior to Windows 10, many of us even myself is used to installing a free antivirus on our Windows computer like AVAST, AVG or AVIRA. However, let us remember that Windows 10 comes with its own antivirus application which is the “Windows Defender”.
With this fact, if you install a third-party antivirus, it will surely slow down your computer. No two antivirus software could coexist on a computer without causing any issues.
Remove Any Newly Installed Application
Check also all your installed programs and if you see some applications that were newly installed especially those you installed a few weeks back prior to your computer slowing down. There are some instances where a program could cause problems on your computer especially if that program is not a trusted application.
Install Malwarebytes and Scan your Computer
When I suspect that a Malware is causing a problem on my computer, the first thing I do is download Malwarebytes and run a complete scan.
If a malware has invaded your computer, there is a big tendency that it would slow down. When you do your scan, make sure that you are not using your computer.
Malwarebytes is one of the best applications when it comes to detecting and removing malware and other similar viruses on your computer.
Try Opening your Computer Case
I have had an experience before where the reason why my computer slowed down is because of heat accumulation inside my computer case.
So what you will do is run your computer while your computer case is open. If this solves the problem, you need to improve the ventilation of your computer case. The best thing to do would be to buy a new case that offers better airflow.
Update your RAM
If ever your computer usage just increased and the program you use demands more computing power, it would surely result a slow computer performance.
The best option for you is to upgrade your RAM. If you currently have 4 GB of RAM. Update it to 8 GB or higher. You will surely experience a significant improvement in your computer performance.
